We built a PC!

26/04/2020

A few months ago we finished collecting all the parts for a PC build, here's an overview of how it went!

PC Parts

I'm definitely no hardware expert but with my shaky knowledge from AS Computing, my other half having watched hours of PC building on YouTube, and our friend who's built PC's before watching on the sidelines, we were ready to go.

The CPU, a big bulky fan, and some pretty RGB RAM got added to the motherboard, with the help of our superman egg cup for holding screws.

We popped it all into the case along with the power supply, some fans, and a graphics card. For storage we had 2 NVMe's (2TB and 250GB) - I'd never seen one of these before this build and man are they small! Then began some fun cable managment.

I'm still not happy with the cables but they're much better now and at least they're hidden in the case!

After installing Windows 10 of course the first thing I did was light it up pink (and buy Factorio).

It's great having a proper PC for occasional dev stuff and being able to play some PC only games - definitely an upgrade from my little Surface 4 Pro (he's still going strong for everyday work though <3).
